天津濱海新區12日深夜發生大爆炸，記者前往爆炸現場採訪時，不但要防著再爆炸的危險，還要防著因採訪被毆打、被公安趕人或搶走相機記憶卡等突發情況。

13日上午，一群台灣媒體記者從現場5公里外的封鎖線，徒步前往爆炸地點，當時正是烈日當空。記者看到驚人景象，紛紛拿起相機、攝影機準備拍攝，不料大批公安立即趕到，一位記者的相機頓時被搶走。

該名公安質問記者「你是幹嘛的？」，記者說明是台灣的媒體來採訪，但相機的記憶卡仍被搶走。記者向公安表示，「記憶卡很貴的，你還我」，公安回應「那你跪我呀！」記者最後仍無法索回記憶卡。

此外，美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）的記者13日上午在醫院連線採訪時遭到毆打，一開始各媒體都質疑是遭到便衣警務人員毆打，但當天下午CNN主動發布新聞澄清，記者是被傷者的親友毆打，疑似因不滿拍攝傷者才出手。

不少媒體都有報導CNN採訪遭毆打的新聞，但後來紛紛撤掉。

此外，12日深夜發生大爆炸，天津市政府新聞辦官方微博「天津發布」，直至隔日凌晨3時50分左右，才發出首條事故消息，距離爆炸發生時間4個多小時，網友質問天津市官方為何反應遲鈍，「是被爆炸震懵了？」
